TPC Sawgrass has appointed Azhar Mohammad as its new executive chef.

Mohammad brings more than 20 years of global experience in the hospitality industry and will be responsible for planning and managing the culinary operations for the club’s restaurants, lounges and banquet facility.

Chef Mohammad joins TPC Sawgrass from AT&T Hotel and Conference Center in Austin, Texas, where he served as executive chef, as well as regional executive chef for 12 additional properties in the brand’s portfolio. Previously, he gained extensive experience at Omni Grove Park Inn in Asheville, North Carolina, and several Ritz-Carlton and JW Marriott properties, including Ritz-Carlton hotels in New Orleans, Grand Cayman, St. Louis, San Juan, Puerto Rico, and the JW Marriott in Dubai. Chef Mohammad has a degree in hotel management from the Institute of Hotel Management and Catering Technology in India.

“It was crucial that we find a culinary professional who understands and has hands-on experience managing the complexity, volume and world-class expectations of an iconic property like TPC Sawgrass,” said PGA TOUR Golf Course Properties National Director of Food and Beverage Kent James. “We are confident we found these qualities in Chef Azhar.”

From overseeing a $37 million multi-unit restaurant, resort and convention operation, to running world-class operations at 5-star properties around the globe, Chef Mohammad’s rich experiences and diverse background are expected to bring great innovation to the club’s culinary programming, said TPC Sawgrass representatives.
