The 2021 Ponte Vedra Auto Show and the inaugural A1A Car Cruise will be presented by VyStar Credit Union.
VyStar branches are ubiquitous throughout North and Central Florida and South Georgia. The not-for-profit, member-owned credit union maintains 62 full-service branches and 18 high school branches. It has more than 235 ATMs throughout the region and a network of more than 20,000 surcharge-free ATMs across the country.
VyStar, which is headquartered in Jacksonville, is known for its support of local nonprofits. In 2020 alone, it invested more than $3 million in more than 200 nonprofit organizations. It has contributed toward the revitalization of urban neighborhoods and demonstrated support for members of the U.S. military.
The financial cooperative’s roots go back to 1952 when a dozen founding members came up with the idea to create a safe place for military and civil service members to save and borrow money.
In those days, it was called the Jax Navy Federal Credit Union, and it was headquartered at Naval Air Station Jacksonville. Since then it has adapted to changes in the banking industry, adopting its first computerized accounting system in 1966 and opening its first ATM in 1982. In 2002, the name was changed to VyStar Credit Union.
Today, VyStar has more than $12 billion in assets, 775,000 members and 1,900 employees. It is the second-largest credit union headquartered in the Sunshine State and the 14th-largest nationwide.
It offers a full range of banking and loan services to private individuals and businesses. Its services include financial counseling, insurance, investments and retirement planning. It also offers online and mobile banking, with accounts accessible via computer, tablet and cell phone.
VyStar will be prominently featured during the A1A Car Cruise, which begins at 6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 13.
The open cruise and poker run, to be held the night prior to the auto show, will follow a route along State Road A1A between Nocatee and Neptune Beach.
Participating vehicles will make stops along the way at five participating VyStar Credit Union branches. Those locations are: 245 Nocatee Center Way; 100 Village Lake Drive; 212 Ponte Vedra Drive; 100 Third St. North, Jacksonville Beach; and 1307 Atlantic Blvd., Neptune Beach.
Automobile enthusiasts may want to station themselves at one of these addresses to get a good look at participating vehicles.
