Florida writer Ron Whittington was named a winner at the Royal Palm Literary Awards (RPLA) for his most recent thriller “In Disguise of the Storm.”

Hosted annually by the Florida Writers Association (FWA), RPLA is a highly regarded writing competition that celebrates excellence in writing across more than 20 genre categories for adults and five for youth. This recognition is a testament to Whittington's exceptional work and dedication to the writing craft.

“In Disguise of the Storm,” the fourth book in a series, follows businessman-turned-spy Parker Glynn as he tracks down a missing father who was searching for his runaway daughter. Glynn soon discovers the daughter is ensnared in a human trafficking ring controlled by Pakistani “Risky” Bhakta and eventually uncovers Bhakta’s twisted terrorist genocide plot aimed at Western civilization.

The story takes place along the hurricane-ravaged Texas coast, where Whittington draws on his personal experience as a first responder after Hurricane Ike hit the Texas Gulf Coast.

“In Disguise of the Storm” is available online at ronwhittington.com and can be pre-ordered at any bookstore though its publisher Ingram Books.

Other thrillers in the Parker Glynn series include “Second Strike,” “Dopplegänged” and “Free Surface Effect,” along with short stories featuring Glynn, “The Devil You Don't” and “Seized Desires” — also available at ronwhittington.com.

A print and broadcast reporter and public relations professional, Whittington was a ghostwriter on two national best-selling books and a prolific freelance writer prior to releasing his first Parker Glynn Thriller in 2010.

Whittington's work was an entry in the RPLA thriller category and achieved one of the highest scores from judges made up of other notable writers.

The Royal Palm Literary Awards stand as a pinnacle of achievement in the writing community, offering a platform for writers to showcase their literary works and gain valuable recognition. The competition is exclusive to members of the Florida Writers Association, a community of writers and other industry professionals committed to fostering literary excellence and camaraderie.
